one lesson: create your own luck. that can be by building something or being around a certain set of people.
i got my first job because i knew someone from my college days.
the first interview was in my dad’s car while we were going for a family friend’s wedding.
it was short and casual.
the call ended by us deciding to work together for a month.
so, no resume shared, no formal interview, no applying to 100s of job.
i got lucky.
one insight: you would have radical pivots until you find the solution in your market
one thought: in india, a 16-year-old is typically focused on school and preparing for competitive exams, with anything else seen as a distraction. In contrast, many 16-year-olds in the U.S. go to school, have part-time jobs, gain real-world experience, and often start living independently. while they might have certain privileges, we’re often too stubborn to realize that telling our children pursuits like "youTubing" are a waste of time may be limiting their potential.
